He successfully tested the homosexual vilification provisions of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 with a complaint of personal homosexual vilification against broadcaster John Laws and Sydney radio station 2UE that concluded in his favour in 2002.[1] Burns went on to front public interest cases against high profile figures and media establishments for unlawful homosexual vilification.

  1. Gary, I’m very interested in following this Tess Corbett contempt case. I’d do it in person, but I’m in Victoria and the case is before the NSW Supreme Court. Would you please continue blogging the details of the case (including legal arguments) once it gets underway?

    1. Sure , I will another wit.
This is the first time a civil contempt proceeding has gone before the NSW Supreme Court.
Basically I’m seeking the defendant to be fined for her contempt and not jail because my work isn’t about punishment but education.
